RAISED FROM THE DEAD

I want you to understand something important –– that God has raised you from the dead.

Ephesians 2:1-5 (KJV), And you hath he quickened, who were
 dead in trespasses and sins, hath he quickened us together with Christ (by Grace are ye saved);

The term ‘quickened’ here means vitalised, made alive –– it’s about breathing life into something that was dead. You were raised together with Christ when he rose from the dead.

The scripture says we were dead. We died in Adam as a consequence of his sin.

Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV), And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17]But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam violated this command and consequently attracted the curse, therefore the very day he and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, the spirit of death began to operate in their system, and the curse was passed down to every man and woman through the bloodline.

So every person who is born into the world is “dead in trespasses and sins” and must therefore receive life. How does one receive this life, and what kind of life is it?

1 John 5:4-5, 11-12 (KJV), For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [5]Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?...
  [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12]He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

What manner of life is the man talking about? It's the life of God. The word translated to ‘eternal life’ — zoe in Greek — did not just mean eternal life (it has no equivalent in English), but the transcendent, overcoming life of God. Remember, the Bible says you were born of God, and whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world.

The day you were born again, you received this new life which is neither tainted nor corrupted. This is greater than ordinary human life, animal life or plant life. It's divine life.

Every fibre of your being pulsates with this life and this must be your confession. This must be your declaration every day –– that you cannot be defeated, you cannot fail, you cannot be tormented with sickness and the spirit of stagnation.

1 John 5:11 says, “And this is the record...” It means it’s indisputable. It’s not in doubt. In other words, it’s verifiable reality. It’s an indisputable verity.

I want to encourage you to have this mindset. You have been raised together with Christ to reign in life. You are not the defeated. You are not the helpless. You are not the fearful. God has your back!

Meditate on this word and walk in victory.

Blessings
