YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER

I have realised that it is often difficult to distinguish believers from non-believers, because a lot of times both of them suffer the same afflictions in life and are destroyed by the similar problems.

The reason for this is often a lack of understanding on what it really means to be a child of God. Of course, the fact that you are now born again doesn't mean the storms of life will not come, no, it simply means they cannot destroy you anymore. 

The reason many of us are destroyed is because we lack understanding and confidence in our new identity as recreated beings. 

Hosea 4:6 (KJV), My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...

We usually come up with a lot of reasons why things are not working out for us, and the most popular is that we are cursed, or under demonic bondage and we feel helpless before the devil. 

But the scripture says we are destroyed, we perish, we suffer, not because of a curse or the devil, but because of ignorance.

The devil will continue to oppress you in that area of your life where you lack revelation knowledge because he thrives where there is ignorance.

We learn from the scriptures that every person has been delivered from the kingdom of the devil, but after you are saved, you can only enjoy your freedom when your spirit seizes that revelation knowledge.

Colossians 1:12-13 (KJV), Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: [13]Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

This means the devil has no authority whatsoever over your life other than that which you give him. 

When you are continuously seeking deliverance as a child of God, what you are really saying is that the cross of Jesus Christ was not enough, that it was useless, and you still need to do something more to really enjoy your spiritual liberty. 

The power to overcome the devil and overwhelming circumstances of life is inherent in you as a child of the Most High God.

1 John 4:4 (KJV), Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

If you really believe this scripture, that God dwells in you, and that He is greater than the devil, then there is no reason whatsoever why you should ever be at a disadvantage in life. 

The only cure for spiritual ignorance is healthy, daily dosages of the Word of God. And I want to challenge someone here this morning to start making the Word your daily meal for it is for eating because “man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4).
